New Paltz’s JP Fabella is an avid member in the music community here at the high school. Fabella, a junior, has been a part of the Drama Club (which he is now the treasurer of), Choir and Band ever since he entered the school as a freshman in 2022. Music is a strong passion in Fabella’s life, as he plans to go to college to be a music teacher. When asked how music has impacted his life, the young vocalist replies with, “Well, music is my life.”

“Well, music is my life.”

Fabella describes the New Paltz choir as a welcoming community. He elaborates by explaining how he’s felt right at home ever since he joined in his freshman year with help from the welcoming Ms. Foti as well as many upperclassmen that soon became close friends. The passionate teenager  started off playing the saxophone and then switched to play the drums in the school marching band. Fabella also dabbles in piano. In his time away from school, Fabella often finds himself at Highlands From Stage to Screen, an auxiliary acting program for musicians all over the Hudson Valley that puts on multiple shows a year.

Through the high school choir, students are presented with the opportunity to audition for the All State choir. After auditioning for a panel of judges, The personable student was selected to join a combination of 8 other band and choir students to spend a musical weekend in Rochester creating music together. Friendly Fabella looks forward to the weekend and the occasion to perform beautiful music with the most talented musicians from New York State.
