Released on May 27, 2016, The Dream Is Over by PUP is their third studio album. Over the course of the album, the Toronto based pop-punk band tackles the sadness of losing friends, transforming it into an adrenaline filled melodic dose of feel good energy. With songs like “DVP”, “The Coast” and “Old Wounds,” the band brings a rebellious energy that speaks to the raw desires of the soul. The band consists of Stefan Babcok, (vocals and guitar) Steve Sladkowski, (lead guitar and backup vocals) Nestor Chumak, (bass and backup vocals) and Zach Mykula, (drums and backup vocals). This quartet has perfected this “we’re hopeless but oh well” sound that exposes you to a mind of a man with nothing left to give.

PUP is a band with a lot of hidden meaning, often using acronyms or subtly implying ideas through their art. The band’s name itself is an acronym standing for “Pathetic Use of Potential.” The name of the album is also based on a comment made by Stefan Babcocks’s doctor. In an interview taking place on May 27th, 2016, Stefan explained he went to see his doctor after a tour and discovered a cyst growing on his vocal chords. His doctor simply said, “I dont know how to tell you this, but the dream is over”. Despite this fact, PUP has released 2 albums, 2 EP’s and 4 singles since May 27th, 2016.
